Shoppers Who Ordered That Viral Highland Cow Advent Calendar Are Opening It To Find Flat Cardboard Cows
The photos were AI. The "figurines" were printed paper. Here's how to tell the real 3D calendar from the knockoffs before December 1st.
It's the most-shared Christmas gift of the season: a 24-door advent calendar where every door hides a tiny, fluffy Highland cow in a different holiday outfit.
The problem? A lot of the listings selling it don't have the product at all. They have AI-generated pictures of chunky, adorable 3D cows, and what turns up in the mailbox is something else entirely.
Buyers have been posting the results all over social media: flat, printed cardboard cutouts, punch-out paper cows, or stickers. Paper-thin. Nothing like the ad.
What the ad promised vs. what arrived

Why it keeps happening
AI image tools can now produce a photo of a product that doesn't exist, in seconds. Some sellers use those images to sell a cheap flat version, ship it from overseas, and count on most buyers not bothering with a return over a $20 gift.
By the time it arrives, it's too late to order a real one before the countdown starts.
⚠ How to spot a fake before you buy
- Ask for video, not photos. A still image is easy to fake. A real seller can show real hands picking up real figurines.
- Look for shadows and fingers. Real 3D figures cast shadows and get wrapped by fingertips. AI images often look too smooth and too perfect.
- Read the wording. "3D figurine" means one thing. "Ornament", "card", "print" or "sticker" in the small print means another.
- Check what's shown in the box. If every image is a glossy studio scene and none shows the actual product out of the box, be careful.
So we filmed the real one. Unedited.
Baby Bubble sells the original 3D version, and it's the company paying for this page, so we'll let the footage do the talking. No AI, no renders, no studio. Just the box on a kitchen counter and all 24 figurines coming out of it.
Every outfit is different: Santa hats, an angel with a halo, an astronaut, a bookworm, a chef and more.
What you actually get
- 24 doors, 24 different Highland cows, one for each day from December 1st
- Solid 3D figurines that stand on their own, not printed cardboard
